Default headliner removal: necessary to remove seats?

Searched and re-read Hilltopersx's beautiful pictorial about headliner removal. He, nor Rave, mention seat removal. But I seem to recall some of you that have tackled it have removed the seats. Necessary? Simply makes it easier? Can I get some input from experience?
Thanks!

It would make it easier, but I didn't really have any problems removing the headliner from my first 00 DII leaving the seats in.

no need to remove the seats at all. Roll back ones forward. the fronts helps support it while you take it in/out.

Take all your headrests off all seats then fold the back seats down. Move the front seats as far forward as they will go then lay them down as far as they will go. This will give you the most room possible without removing the seats. Tilt the headliner and fit it back in but be careful and go slow you want to bend the liner to much cause it my leave a crease. Screwin the rear ol $%#@ handles in first, this will support the headliner and everything else will be a breeze. If you have a buddy to help its way easier but you can tackle the beast single handedly if you have too.

Good luck and post some pics of it

7-pass truck? I found it helpful to remove the jump seats to pull the headliner all the way out. I didn't have any trouble with any of the other seats.

Default Absolutely unnecessary to remove the seats.

No need at all to remove the seats. They aren't in the way at all. Took a couple pics of how my headliner still looks after nearly 7 years of non-garaged Midwest temperatures. Review my post from 2010 as this job is really simple to do. The biggest challenge was ensuring I didn't snap the plastic fasteners. I always save large twist ties that come with some electronics. Use these or something along these lines to wrap under the flanged head of the fastener and around the shank. You could use heavy (probably 30#) monofilament fishing line and gloves to protect you hands when pulling on these (or don't be a cheap are like me and spend $8 at harbor freight for panel removal tools).

The paint I rolled on has stuck like glue and is washable. Again, see my original post from 2010

Good luck

you don't. you curve the fibreglass enough to get it out the back door.
