Default Heated seats?

I just installed new heated seat switches in my Disco 2 and I couldn't really tell if they were working properly. So I used my friend's flir camera and it looks like the passenger seats working but not the driver's side. How hot do the seats suppose to get, hot-hot or semi-hot or just warm? Thanks.

When I tried out the passenger side the seat was warm like a 4 on a scale of 10.

Heater elements are known to go south.

They are supposed to burn your butt!
At least mine do.
It's like sitting on a BBQ.

Be careful. DII heated seats are known to short out and even cause fires. That happened in my truck when my son was driving it. It burned a nickel-sized hole in the leather and scorched my son's jeans before he figured out what was going on. Be very aware of any hot spots.

Right, they are NOT supposed to burn your butt!!!!

You have a crimp in your seat heater wiring if your getting a hot spot, which is caused by a higher resistance at the crimp. The heat seater is a low resistance circuit. Any disturbance leads to a higher resistance which will immediately lead to excess heat dissipation in that area.

When you take the seat apart you can see the brown or black markings of the hot spot and search for the compromised wire in that area. You can jump the open with a wire soldered to either end or just trying to resolder the broken pieces.

Or more simply replace the entire lower element. A new element is about $60 last time I checked.
