Default Heater Core Hose

I popped the hood today to check on coolant levels and I noticed one of the hoses leading to the heater core has a crack in the outer rubber. Its not weeping or leaking yet so I've got another one on order. I was concerned though that the hose looked half collapsed. When I squeezed it to try and pop it back into shape it was still flexible and I heard the thermostat clicking. Should that hose be somewhat collapsed like that? I opened the overflow tank cap and some air escaped and the hose regained some of its original shape.

FYI if one hose is bad others will be CLOSE behind. You can buy an (ALL THE DARN HOSES) kit and just change them out. Cheaper than a tow and maybe a motor.
