Default Help buying a 2001 SE Disco

Im looking at getting a 2001 Disco with 115,000 on it. It was in an accident and sounds like the engine runs great but 2 problems though. No frame damage of any kind. The guy says the rover dealer told him that it needs a new Steering box ,steering column, track rod assembly tube and ball joints. He says that he does not feel any major difference when driving it, even though, I would replace what needs be. He says the transmission light just went on and not sure why but does not have any problems or ever has. My questions is it for 1000.00 is it worth it? Since I think the trans light might have gone on from one of the ball joint sensors and that he has never had a problem with the trans before. Either way very minor damage to it all just a lower bumper and and right light assembly. Either way any help here would truly be appreciated.

For $1000 go for it.
What trans light is on? There is only one and that is for the trans temp, most likely a bad sensor.
As for the steering components, pretty cheap to DIY.

If all else fails you can get $400+ just for the front bumper cover. It is worth more than that is parts

For that money, heck yeah! You could always find another one too. It is great to have a spare truck for parts!

any 4wd suv that runs and drive is worth $1000 (at least where I live.... we don't really have rust problems that much).

Well I guess I better get it then seeing that everyone else is on board. One other note how bad could the steering be in that I need all the parts mentioned could I drive it back home 400 miles? The guy says he cannot really tell any difference when driving but just want to make sure since I will driving it back. Thanks so much guys you always help!
