Default Help! Can't get out of park and Diff lock light with brake pedal

Nothing has changed in my rover setup in the last many months.
But out of nowhere my rover won't shift out of park and the difflock light comes on and beeps when I hit the brake pedal.
I narrowed it down to the brake light fuse, when I replace that, it works for a bit, then blows again.
I removed my trailer wire harness module just to rule it out.
I am going to pick up the brake light switch tomorrow, but that hasn't cured my issue in any threads I've read. Plus no one ever posts what actually fixed thier problems.
I didn't see any obvious wire issues up under the t-case anywhere either.
Need some serious help before I give up and put a 50 amp fuse in the taillight circuit and find the problem by tracing the fire.

Maybe the solenoid that unlocks the shifter has shorted internally?
Also, have you removed the tail lights to check the condition of the bulbs, wires, etc.?
Water in the lenses could potentially cause a short too.
I don't know, this is a weird problem!

have you tried engaging the manual override shift lock button beneath the shifter cover?

Once you get out of park you can better identify the problem.

I had the brake light switch fail recently but did not blow any fuse or have a warning light. Sounds like you have bigger issues but put it in gear and see what is going on, safely of course.

I replaced the fuse #25 (brake lights), brake light switch and all the tail light bulbs and it worked...for one day.
Now the light with the pedal is back and no shifting out of park.
I guess I need to get a wiring diagram of the brake circuit somewhere so I can trace all the wires. And the difflock light circuit too. Where can I find those?

I was unable to shift out of park once because I had replaced a brake light with an incorrect bulb. It blew the fuse and the other brake light. So it's not a bad idea to change out your brake lights. It might help but I'm not sure.

Did it blow the fuse again?

Update: appears to be fixed.
Gave up and took to Indi repair. They found a wire off the transfer case that had stripped insulation and also a reverse light wire in the rear. Repaired both and it hasn't returned
