Default Help! Cooling related!

I almost sold my Disco... but on the way to the shop, the truck overheated. The light on the dash shows red but the gauge doesn't move. DiscoMike!!!!!!!????? You or any of your friends have any idea of what could be wrong?

Oh, and I'm also wondering where the thermostat is located... The truck is a 2003 Disco HSE 4.6! Thanks fellas!

It could be a lot of things. The first thing that I would do is check and see if you have lost any coolant. If you have than visible inspect your hoses, thermostat, radiator, and water pump. I would also check the oil to see if it has any coolant mixed with it. You can also check and see if your viscous fan is working properly.

Your thermostat is located between your alternator and battery, and behind the radiator. It is beige in color, made out of a special type of plastic, looks like an artificial heart and has three hose connected to it, hope this helps.

Need to get your hands on a OBD2 scanner to monitor actual temps while driving. You might have a temp sensor problem that is located at the very front middle of the intake behind return side of the coolant hose.
