I need to replace the horizontal wood trim piece just below the passenger side airbag. How do I remove the one that is currently on there? It it screwed on from behind or does it just snap in/out?

 

It's screwed on from behind. On the Disco I, you can pull up the two spring levers on the sides of the glove box compartment and it drops down, allowing access to the components behind it. The Disco II is probably the same.
