Well , It's the transfer box..had on the lift today and discovered that the crossmember was missing ...you could see that someone had taken off as the bolts where cut. Ran it with the wheels off the lift and sure enough, there was the noise. He said someone probably serviced it and diddint fill with oil correctly so its grinding as well as leaking a bit. I have located a few as that seems to be the only safe fix. $700.00 to as low as $450.00. Anyone tackel this themselves? let me know..
