I cannot get into my disco 2. the key spins in the lock and the fob does not unlock the doors. Can anyone please help with a solution?

 

So your door pin is broken.

Have you tried opening the remote to see what's wrong? Battery dead? Button on circuit board broken off?

 

Boy that sucks. Has your keyless entry fob ever worked? If so Abran's suggestions may be able to get you into your truck. If so here's a link to a Dweb thread I wrote a few years ago about repairing the broken shaft. There are now sellers on eBay offering the replacement pin I fabricated for just a few bucks if that's not something you are equipped to do. But you need to be able to get into the truck and remove the door panel to do the work.

If you are not able to get the keyless entry to work you may be left with no option other than breaking a window to get into your truck. I don't know where you are located but I have an extra driver's door window stored in my basement.

 

Really, that sucks. Usually if the shaft is broken, you can still use your key to open the door. Like min01 mentioned that you can make one yourself. Instead of paying $25 on ebay which you get a dremelled 6d nail. You can get 5 pound of nails from home depot for 14 bucks. (Photos of the nail I got from ebay.)

 

If there is a missing button on your FOB, use a small wire to jump the 2 contacts, or break the windshield, it's the cheapest and easiest to replace.

 

I take it the Disco 2 only has one door lock? I have a Disco 1 and it has 3 which is good because the drivers lock is broken - only you can't lock the door at all.

 

I know it's noon somewhere but that's a lil extreme ..

 

Or cut the roof off. Convertible discos are all the rage, the cool kids are doing it.

 

Go in through the floor.

4" grinder. Lift the carpet. Easy.

Simple to weld up and re-lay the carpet.
