Good day, i hope someone can help me, I have a disco II that we took the engine out to change the crankshaft oil seal And other seals and now with the motor back on the tranny won't work not on drive or reverse it Will not move at all we try taking out the tranny's fuse and back on as someone told me to and nothing happend thanks for you're help

 

did you reinstall the torque converter bolts? (this is what connects the engine crankshaft to the transmission torque converter)

 

Does it show R on the dash when you put it in reverse and D on the dash when you put it in drive?

 

Yes Bkreutz every bolt is in its place and jafir all P R N D 321 all show up correctly, the red light on the shifter are on instead of the normal green light

 

did you put both drive shafts back in? You cannot go anywhere with just the rear one in a discovery unless the transfer case differential is locked.

 

Yes they're both on, we didn't took them off, the transmision wasn't taken off eather

 

There is more than one fuse involved. And more than one connector that could be disturbed, two on the driver side of transmission. Here is schematic page from the RAVE electrical manual. Hope you already have the RAVE download.

 

I'm guessing you left the torque converter bolted to the tranny. Did you use care when lowering and backing the engine to the transmission? You need to insert the output shaft halfway into the torque converter, the rotate converter a quarter turn (I think) and continue insertion. You may have damaged converter or seal.

 

not to sound like a wise *** but did you put the converter all the way in.
It slides in; then twists; then slides in again, a common mistake is not to seat the conveter correctly.

 

And if this happens, when you tighten down the bolts from the transmission to the engine, you will break the pump in the transmission.
