Default Help identifying noise

I have a diesel like noise that seems to become apparent when the truck is up to temperature. As you can tell from the video it’s most apparent from under the truck. I’m hoping this is a simple exhaust leak as I can live with that for a while before I can get around to fixing it. Any thoughts are appreciated.

Exhaust leaks are super easy to find, plug a shop vac or leaf blower in to the exhaust pipe on a cold engine/truck. Duct tape it to the pipe and turn it one, spray windex on the exhaust manifolds and pipes and you will see bubbles blowing if there are leaks.

However if it is not there when cold, it is not an exhaust leak. Sounds like you have the dreaded rover tick related to either low oil pressure or a slipped cylinder. I recommend doing an oil pressure test - you can find the instructions in the Rave manual.

Thanks for the input, I never heard of that technique for the exhaust leak test, it’s pretty clever! Well, as with all things I’ll start with the simple stuff first and worry about the more complex things later. I’ve viewed a couple of YouTube videos on the slipped liner sound and it compared it to my video and they somehow sound different, don’t know if that’s good or bad or my brain trying to protect itself from a harsh truth!

Mine makes a similar noise as well. Admittedly it hasn’t been at the top of my priority list - I figured it was just some valve noise or something but I haven’t really tried to trace it to the upper or lower engine.

Here’s a video - mine sounds exactly the same.

I do my best to not leave my posts unresolved, so here’s an update: today I did an induction cleaning with the dual purpose of 1)just to do it, it was super easy, and 2) I knew it would generate a lot of smoke which would let me check for exhaust leaks. Turns out I have a leak on the resonator which is contributing to at least some of the noise (hopefully all of it, but I doubt I’m that lucky). I just found it today with the cleaning so I’ll report back when I get it repaired.
