HELP !!!, Part shredded near fan!!!
Last day or so, i was hearing a whining noise. Made it home and decided to run idle to locate the noise. While running idle smelled plastic burning, and heard clicking noise. Then saw shredded parts on the ground. Stopped the engine, and took the attached pics.
What part is this?
Can it be replaced?
Could there be more damage?
I hope i stopped it just in time....

Buy Dayco No Slack Idler/Tensioner Pulley, Light Duty 89054 at Advance Auto Parts
Will i need the fan removal tool to complete repair ?
UPDATE//this part was the 80mm. i went back to get the 70mm.
was able to replace w/o removing the fan//

that is correct, its the 70 mm pulley, just unbolt what remains of the previous pulley, and bolt on the new one, then install a NEW belt... Just had the same thing happen to mine last month, except I had less pulley remaining... for me the pulley shattered, and cracked the fan... also the shattered pierced the radiator in 2 places... just check the fan and hoses and radiator for any signs of damage... overall a very easy fix... 10 minutes at most, provided you have the tools and the parts... you may want to check the 80mm pulley and the tensioner too, chances are if one of those 3 went the other 2 might not be far behind
Rover_Hokie, the pulleys and belt I got from my local dealer (The parts manager does sell to me wholesale, which still isnt the best prices, but its quick he scrounged up the parts from other dealers in and had them later the same day), the new pulleys are LR parts and are metal. The fan came from AtlanticBritish.com (i think it was 80 bucks) but that only took a couple days to get here. The radiator came from Orily's Auto parts, and they had it within a few hours and was about 320 bucks if i remember correct
You dodged a bullet, lucky belt and fan did not decide to visit radiator and hood. Also, after repair, wear eye protection when inspecting the finished and running vehicle. Small parts thrown off can be blown into your face, or the rad. Lok closely for pieces before cranking.
