Buzz is right. Maybe if you put some good money into one of those really good ice coolers, you would end up saving a lot in the long run. A friend of mine had a medium range cooler in his car and the ice kept everything cold for days (during the summer months). Even when the ice melted, the water stayed darn near ice cold for another day or so.

I guess it depends on what you want the fridge for.

It won't work, wire your aux plug to be on all the time and "QUIT" worrying about how to do it, this being dais by someone who ran an Ingle for 7 or 8 years and never had an issue.

His geographical location is a consideration also. It may have worked for you, but if he's in a colder climate, it might not work out so well.

Get a Yeti cooler and a block of ice. Ice Chest - Ice Box - Large Cooler | YETI Coolers
More portable and I bet it will keep your beer just as cold or colder than the fridge. Now if you plan on going on expiditions then the fridge and dual battery might be worth it.

What does his colder location have to due with it? I used mine for 5 years while running Calif's high desert and Death Valley ares as well as 3 or more years here in Colorado. As long as he uses the thermal blank that is an option, he can use it any where on one good battery.

A plus for the ice coolers is the use of melt water to top off the cooling system....

Just as you noted using the thermal blanket. Location is a consideration for a lot of things, and batteries is one of them.

Why does everything have to be a battle and a challenge? That sentence could have been reworded to read, "Yes, geographical location is a factor, and he can use a thermal blanket to keep the battery warmer if he is in a cold climate".

Thank you for the replies. I will be having a single line coming out from the main battery to the fridge. I will have it professionally installed on Wednesday, assuming they can find a way to get from the engine compartment thru the glove compartment area. What is the best location to run a cord from the battery to the inside?

Well, if the fridge can reach the existing power socket in the back, you could give the pro these pages and have him disconnect the white & green wire that drives the socket at the underhood fuse box and move it to the new fuse and connection he planned to use. So wire is already there, with socket. You still get the shop guy to make the wiring mods. Piece of cake.

The wire starts at the socket as purple & green. It runs to Fuse 32 under the dash (25 amp). It changes color to white & green. It goes to pin 6 of connector C574, bottom side of the under hood fuse panel.
