Default Help removing fan

I'm re assembling my motor and I'm at the power steering pump. I don't know how I got it off but it isn't going back on without me taking off or breaking the fan. I have a wrench big enough to grab the nut for the fan, but how do I stop the pulley from rotating??

Thanks

Several options, chain wrench, serpantine belt and wrench on idler pulley to tighten instead of loosen, rags stuffed between belt and pulley. And what works for most guys is to attach that wrench, then slap it hard with hammer toward the passenger side sharply (in a NAS truck). Not a love pat. Using a big wrench with slow application of force just doesn't work usually. Must strike swiftly.

Well the belt is off and the PSP along with that big block are out so I can't use the belt to hold onto the pulley.. what's a chain wrench?

Unfortunately most auto part stores are closed in the middle of the night and I'm impatient so I went ahead and cut a bit of the guide bolt off so I could get the PSP assembly on there without removing the fan.

Thank you though guys, I'll need this info in a few months when I go after the timing chain... and probably swap out the head gaskets I just put in haha
