Default Help: Shifter Lever Top Removal (2003)

I have my console apart and according to the manual I have here there should be a clip keeping the shifter lever onto the post but I can't find one, and I think by twisting I broke/disengaged the shift lock as well (the button one, the ignition one works).

Can anyone give me insight into how to get the **** off so I can get in and fix this?

Yeah, it's broken. It'll shift from drive to reverse while moving. I really need to get this fixed ASAP as it's my only vehicle currently accessible.

OK, figured it out. As I disassemble things I'm finding a lot of screws and bolds and clips missing. Is this something that's typical or can I blame the previous mechanics who worked on this?

So also managed to fix the button on the shifter by pulling out on the plastic activation rod until the button clicked out then re-fitting things. Phew.
