Default Help.....Spark plug firing

Anyone know how to determine if you are getting "fire" at the spark plugs? I think they are not firing.

The simple generic answer....

Remove one (spark plug) from the block. Plug it back into the plug wire. Grab some pliers with insulated handles. Use said pliers to hold the plug (on the white part). Now look at the part of the plug that would usually be in the motor. Have someone crank the motor for about 5 seconds. Did you see a spark at the plug? If so what color?

Alternate method. Remove wire from plug. Stick a screwdriver into the plug hole at the wire. Now, hover the exposed end of the driver over a part of the body that has exposed metal, an ground bolt will work, let it hover about 1/4 inch from object.Have someone crank the motor for about 5 seconds. Did you see spark?

Mind you, these are old school methods, but they are quick and easy. But you might get bit.

Edit: More importantly ..... what makes you think you dont have spark? I suggest you figgure that out before tearing into your mill. Unfortunately if you have to ask this question ... odds are the problem is more advanced that you might think.
