Exclamation help a student get into his dico and see out the back :)

i have a 1999 disco 2 (NAS, v8 and all that) and live in southeast Alaska.
i have a multitude of problems (who doesn't but the ones i'm worried about right now are the rear wiper and the remote entry.

the rear wiper dosn't work, press the button nothing happens, im looking at fuses and taking the back panel off to get at the wiper next weekend.

any ideas or fixes with the back wipers on the disco?

the other problem is that the buttons on the key/remote wont unlock the doors. i can insert the key into the door and turn it (once for driver, twice for the others) and i can use the dash buttons to unlock/lock all the doors. the light on the key also lights up.

using the vast knowledge of the 17yearold that i am, i figure the problem with the key is in the either the key or the bcm or what ever the key sends the signal to. i don't know how to test either though.

all help is appreciated, this is a great form and most of its member are great, not like the trash you get on a lot of forum site

ps. if anyone wants to hear my sob story about all the other problems this great truck has just say so

The Key and Door issue is if the unlock button works in the car means that your key lost it's programming. Unfortunately, if this is the case you need to find a Rover Tech, or Car Lock smith to fix this issue. 150 dollar issue. If you can find someone near you with a hawkeye, they might be able to help you.

A Hawkeye, is a ODB device designed for Land Rovers that has key programming capability. If you want more info on this device go to roverparts.com and search Hawkeye.

You might still try a new battery in the remote because it could be enough for a light, but not a signal. It's a $1.99 investment just to be sure.

So when you replace the key fob battery, does that reset anything or require the key/vehicle to be re-programed?

No, just swap it out.

any idea with the wipers besides just tearing the system apart with a voltmeter?

Looking thru the RAVE electrical guide and circuits manuals should help. Color pictures, color wiring diagrams.

Don't waste your time with other scan tools. The only after market OBD2 scan tools that work and are designed for the Landrover Range are Hawkeye and Nanocom. Landrover have their 'unique' Test Book system which is available to Landrover Main Dealers only (almost uniquely). Many have tried various alternative scan tools with little success other than the main functions.
