Default Here are the engine to transmission bolts

If you are removing your engine without removing the transmission you will need to remove (14) 13mm bolts. They are very highly torqued and they will require a breaker bar. Take your time, four of them hate you. Just keep your head about you and remember you are the human.

I have attached a photo to help guide you where these are. The bolts at 3:00 and 9:00 seem to be the hardest to see and hardest to remove.

I did not remove the front pipe, just the exhaust manifolds. I also did not loosen or remove the crossmember.

Nice diagram/picture. But, bolts 3 + 4 heads face the rear of vehicle and thread into the oil pan. Not a big deal, since they are out in the open and probably the two easiest to remove.

You are certainly correct. I missed it since those are through holes (not tapped) and tapped into the oil pan as you say.

That just goes to show ya...I spend way, way, waaaayyyy too much time lying around under our two Discovery's...lol.

One, installed a trans. and the other has the engine out at the moment.

Really wish the brits didn't have the habit of over engineering where 4 easily accessible bolts would do and under engineering where they definitely could have used something more stout.

Corrected it. Can't let that one go. Thanks for pointing it out!

Amen to that.
I have owned many a Brit car but this Rover's engine was the hardest to remove by far. Also, Jeeze! The torques on everything is crazy high.

Hey Twin6

Did you by chance happen to document which bolts went where? I did not document before I took out my engine. :-( Noob mistake.

Anyone recall which two bolts hold the two plastic or metal brackets that are attached to the transmission. I think the brackets hold the brake lines?
