General Grabber AT2s are the way to go when you need the 255/55/18. Tirerack has them in stock at a good price. With Tiredepot they are not in stock but can be ordered. I think it was less than ten dollars more with shipping to go with Tirerack.com. Check out their "have them mounted and balanced option".

I had the same problem. just recently replaced the hurricane rims with some 15" cragar rims because I couldnt find a hardcore mud tire to fit the 18" rims without having to lift the truck.

I personally like the looks of the 18" rims compared to the 16", but obviously when it comes to performance looks doesn't really matter. It makes sense that there wouldn't be many options for 18" AT's but you would think there would be at least a few! But General is what I have liked from the beginning so I am happy they have my size. When it comes down to performance and looks I am willing to compromise, at least with the level of off roading I am doing now. Thanks for all the input guys, now I am really excited to get them on and try em' out!

Finally got around to searching the back-posts for info, glad I did. I'm running Hurricanes, but looking for good off-road tires. I'm running Geolandars right now, which is pretty much my first choice for "mostly on the highway, then mostly on unpaved roads" tire. But once you put tread off road for real, as in "no, really, there's no road there", it's not at all what you want...

Used to use BFG MTs on all my rigs, but as everyone notes, nothing in 18"...

I *could* score a set of 16x8s, or NATO steelies, like everyone else, but what fun would that be?

not sure if they have your size, but the Bridgestone Dueler Revo's are a great tire both on and off road. even consumer reports gave them one of the highest ratings on an A/T.

Consider trading you 18" alloys for a set of 16"s, there are always people looking to swap sizes.

I sure like my AT/2s. Comfortable ride, nice rugged looks, extremely competent in the winter and off-road.

Looks like we have less choice in the UK, going to get AT2s next week for my LR3, found a guy a few miles away who can get me some in 24 hours, 255 60 18 at a great price, looking forward to trying them out.

Lucky for you guys changing rim sizes as you wish.
In Mozambique, (Africa) if your vehicle is registered with 16" rims and you change the size the vehicle is now "Un roadworthy"
What is the best tyre size for Disco 1 ? 16/245/70 ore 16/255/70
Currently running on 16/235/70 rear and 16/255/65 front.
Which is fatal and cuases the vehicle to sway seriosly.
I think 16/255/70 ore 75 might touch the front bumper on turning?
Please assist
Hercu

Hercu, you can go with a 245/75/16 with no problems, that is the largest size you can get for your DI.
Personally on mine I stay with the factory size of 235/70/16.
