Default High Idle/stepper motor

OK, so i got my new TPS in the mail, put it on, and bam! 2k idle still. So, pulled the stepper motor off my buddies to try, again, in conjuction with the new TPS. No diffrence.

I've read places in here where the ECU has to "learn" the new stepper motor. Do I have to wipe out the ECU's memory, or can I just drive it to learn it?

Something to add, I did get the idle down to around 1k by tightning up the air screw on top above the IACV. But I had to totally close it to get that rpm, which I would want to open to let the ecu do it's job.

Any ideas or anything to add???

Have you taken it to the dealer to get the ECU re-flashed?
Have you looked for vacuum leaks?
I know you have working on this for a while but I dont remember all that you have tried.

I've checked/eliminated vacum leaks. Haven't had the ECU re-flashed. Was wondering if driving it enough would the ECU re-learn the new stepper motor on its own after a while? If I have to, I'll have the dealer re-flash it. Was holding off as the closest one is 2hrs away

I'm also going to pull the stepper tommorow and plug the idle air port with my finger and see if it dies, theoreticaly it should

I do not know if the ecu will relearn the stepper motor or not.
I would not like driving it at 2,000 rpm.

well, after growing tired of driving my crappy lumina, i found the time to make the 4hr round trip to the dealer.

And let me tell ya, 2hrs there, wait 20 min, they get it in. I go out and watch the guy,15min being hooked to the computer, done. idles like a dream. then they hand me the bill for $93 and change, for 15 min of work.

I smiled and said thank you. Cause now i got my rover back.

On an interesting note, the mechanic started to tell me all he did was reset/erase the adaptive memory. Then when I was telling him how far I live(100 miles+) for just that. He said oh, theres a way to reset it without hooking up testbook, you unplug your maf, turn the key to on without starting it, plug it back in, then thats when his service manager gave him a dirty look and he "forgot" what the rest of the procedure was. Convienient.

Have you had someone scan the new TPS to verify that it is sending the proper signal?
The ECU does not need to be reprogrammed for this sensor, just the IAC.

Yes, the mechanic at the dealer had to reset the adaptive memory for the IAC and the TPS, being I replaced both. The tps was close enough, but since he was there he did it anyway. The new IAC was WAY off.
