High mileage Disco's

Kbb seems more in line with the market down here.
NADA elsewhere(based on ebay sales)
and Edmunds is so low its insulting and not supported by one sale I can find nationwide.
That being said the only other DII's for sale within 500 miles near 3k need engine replacements or head gasket repairs. Kbb says 2600 which seems about right and I may offer that... He will probably refuse.

Made the offer via text..
No reply in 16 hours. Moving on.
I'm going to take a step back and try to hold out for awhile for the right deal and may bump my budget up towards the end of the month and get a 04 so its ready to go(minus being a leaky land rover).

I'm just going to post a few disco's I am "considering" and invite anyone to feel free to comment.
Here are a few that would be considered "best of".. 2004's are worth an extra $300-500 to me for the diff lock with similar mileage.
2003 Land Rover Discovery SE7
http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/cto/4354452476.html 117k
http://treasure.craigslist.org/cto/4360764756.html top candidate but that price must come down

Miami 2004 is most likely a small dealer - who takes trades when selling a vehicle? I'd ask them where or why they got it. See if the owner on the title matches who's selling it to you. I've stopped looking for cars in RI because of some of the used car sharks pretending to not be dealers... Often they've found an issue and want to dump it on the unsuspecting. Things like 'am/fm, power windows, power seats' screams generic seller... A good owner would put things like "Head gaskets done 10k ago" etc. Also, miles not listed? Better way to generate calls for the curious. "Ahh, just come out and look at it" man I can hear it now!
Treasure 2004 - Younger owner accepting texts. Doesn't MEAN it has to be bad, but younger folks don't always do the same maintenance that older folks would spring for...
The 2003 I wouldn't bother with. Between the oil pump issues that may all be sorted out and no CDL... There's just no point to me. Either of those 2k4 ones are good to go look at though. Never hurts. The way I see it, if its under 6k and in good shape, I'll pay it for a 2k4.

"high miles is a 30% price reduction
remind him of that"

Through the years, I have done so much work on engines, especially on Rover engines, when I see high mileage, I see rod/main bearing wear, and wear on so many other major components, that I reject such vehicles. I try to "catch" them at around 100,000 miles, and do some serious work on them, exchanging parts that need changing, due to heavy wear, so I can get another 100,000 miles or more on them.
