Brian.
A couple of years ago, a guy asked if he should get a disco. I told him it would be cheaper to pick up a hookers and blow habit for the summer.

I still maintain my position.

so essentially what my mechanic said is that I have a faulty MAF sensor which caused a misfire and wasn't allowing it to shift up. From what I understand a good MAF sensor is between 4.5 (amps?) to 5.0. Mine was reading at 4.36. Does this make sense?

Also when test driving to replicate problem, it wasn't there. My mechanic even asked me to sit in the test drive with him so we could try and get to the bottom of it.

No. That's not right. MAF and shifting are not connected. Nor are misfires and shifting. I've had a bad MAF and terrible misfires, both connected and unconnected to the MAF, and my truck has always shifted fine until I had a massive transmission leak (cut hose) or the aforementioned mentioned TPS disconnect.

Oh, I forgot: and when my battery was low. A faulty battery can put you in limp mode, even.

If someone thinks different, please correct me. That's just based on my experience.

Did your mech six provide you with the numeric error codes stored in your computer?
we need those to be able to help.

Yeah. Sorry. I **** you not a flash flood went through my property and I haven't had power for 2 days.
P0734 - 4th gear ratio monitors (see images)
P1300 - see images
P0171 - don't know
P0174 - don't know

Also the P0734 was based off of factor code 20 which says the exact same thing in the test report print out.

You learn something new every day. I just finished reading a forum post from John Robison where these codes can absolutely be attributed to the MAF.

on the Bosch p38 and D2's apparently an erratic MAF output causes the ECU to send conflicting messages to the transmission on when to go in and out of Over drive (4th).

amazing.

Do you have access to a MAF for testing? I stil leave one spare MAF in my " get me home" box that I could send you for testing if you wanted to try a different MAF before spending the money on one.

Wow, I had no idea. Sorry for my bad analysis, above. I'll file that away.
