Just drained the rear diff, took maybe 5 minutes

you will need a 1/2" socket wrench and 21mm socket

The 1/2" wrench is needed to remove the drain, the socket wrench fits right into the plug. I used a couple taps with a mallet to break it free.

The 21mm socket in needed to remove the oil level plug, be careful when taking this one on and off as there is rubber seal behind it.

 

High pitch noise 65-80 mph .................... it's really a 767 taking off from JFK

Seriously, it sounds like extremely dry UJ's in the driveshafts, possibly the cardan, which need greasing asap to avert a potential disaster.

 

...great thanks for the info; so you're not replacing that O-Ring, but reusing it? I knew it was there, but it would be good to have one or two on hand just in case, gotta find the right size of it as well. ;-]#

 

...in my case would be from FLL, but the comparison is on point! ...again, mechanic went underneath and confirmed all "looked" good, and that the grease job also seem to had been done thoroughly, and when he heard the thing taking off, he immediately pointed out to be the "differencial/front axel"... so I'll drain and refill to see if it solves it... I'll have the tires checked, maybe rebalanced to see if slight vibes goes away. Thanks for your feedback OFFROADFRANCE.

 

depending on the quality, I may reuse it but, do what ever you feel comfortable doing.
