Cool Hill Decent Control (HDC)

So having never had a need to use the HDC on my 1999 DISCO 2 for seemingly no reason the HDC display is showing a steady AMBER, having never used I am unsure as to what this may be telling me, I read in the manual that if there was a failure to the HDC system there would be 3 audiable "dings" I hear nothing different, all is running fine, brakes are working as per normal, a little spongy but have been that way for a while.

Anuone care to enlighten me to the HDC and why I now have a solid AMBER on the panel? Any suggestions welcome, I was thinking of some black electrical tape to cover it up but guess I should try to resolve first...

Thanks All

David

Are there any other lights on too? ABS? TC? What happens when you press the button for HDC?

You'll probably need something to read the codes, like an ABS-Amigo or hawkeye or the like. (or a trip to the garage)

David, do you have a check engine light on, if so what are the code numbers?
When did you try and use it and how, did you turn it off after trying it?

Thanks Mike, not really sure what may have happened. I no longer have the HDC light on, nothing changed. But all is OK. I will put this one down to the gremlins.

Oh and as a note, no Check Engine light, just the Service engine soon light.

The Service Engine Soon (SES) light and Check Engine light are one in the same; the terms are interchangeable.

The terms are interchangable for all Rovers except the '03 and '04, the dealer uses this light as a "CHANGE engine light" If it comes on, expect a $10,000 bill at the dealer!
