Default Hill Descent Control...what do I do

I am still getting to know my disco, I have only had it for a couple weeks now. I just found out about the hill descent control, I was going to try it out but nothing happened. I turned it on then started down the hill and nothing. I do not have the owners manual so I have no idea if there is something special I need to do first. Any help would be great, thanks

I freaked out the first time I tried it. Beside my car picking up more and more speed NOTHING happened

Like Arsell already said, you have to be in Lo gear. To get into Lo gear, put your car in neutral (don't be driving more than about 3 mph) and shift the gear from Hi to N then to Lo. It should be relatively smooth, don't try to force it. While the gear selector is in N, you will see a blinking light on the panel and you should hear an audible sound.

The HDC uses the TC and ABS systems if I am not mistaken, and my car makes a lot of noise when it is functioning. I believe that is normal...

Someone correct me if I am wring on any of the above... Also, i have a 2000, and am not sure if the procedure may be diffferent for other years.

As mentioned, your t/case must be in low range and depending on which gear you have your tranny will determine how much the system will slow you down, 1st gear will be the slowest, drive the less slow.
