Homemade bumper installed!!
Hey, where is that shop located? From the looks of that bumper I would bet you almost anything that a stock LR brushguard would still fit over it and that's what I was originally intending to that with mine. .
The shop is in Birmingham, AL. Matt actually went by there so the shop guys could make a jig in case they need to build a few more. (How cool is he?!) I'm working with them to get one as we speak.
Great! Have you guys discussed fog lights or shipping?
This is timely as I cracked my front bumper this weekend. I am very interested. Keep us posted. I would need shipping to the Houston area (hopefully that will not add too much to the cost).
MC04DII, per your other thread, did you ever post the bumper dimensions?

Went by All South Fabricators today at lunch and ordered one of their "Custom" bumpers. Nolan was out sick today but the next guy in line took the bull by the horns and got the process started.
The only real reason I mention it is because they are concerned with the differences between the 1999-2002 and 2003-up. So far the only ones they have built have been for 2003 I think. Mine is a 2000.
He was way more concerned about cutting the 1" off the bottom of the grill than I am. I told him that almost every other aftermarket bumper out there requires cutting the grill on the early models at the very least.
So anyway, I suggested he keep a separate record of this build/install so he can repeat it easily for others in the near future. Noting the differences if any for the 1999-2002.
Seems to be a well run operation very clean and organized. He wants to test fit the unit before the mounting brackets are fully welded in place. So at least two more trips for me.
They want to get much more comfortable with the Discovery II before they are willing to make one blind and ship it to you guys in far off places. So it seems it is up to the Birmingham Rovers to keep this bumper source available for now anyway.
Also, It appears that the "Bull Bar" I have will not play well with the All South Bumper. They both need to mount to the same holes, so either it gets heavily modified or off to e-bay.

I got hung on a 1" diameter branch, and it broke the entire left side of the factory bumper cover, part of the grill, the left side finisher... all into about a hundred little pieces. So I needed a replacement.
I think the bumper will be less noticeable when it gets painted.
I strongly agree. I also think another angle in the middle would finish that bumper a little better. Two more welds, but maybe worth it for future builds?

OR, bend a little further into the middle?
HAHAHA... Priceless!
