Default Hood Blackout kits

The glare that comes from the white bonnet of my 2000 Discovery has me looking for a way to save my eye sight. I’ve seen a hood blackout kit advertised, and even mentioned in these pages, and it seems like the perfect solution. I’m a little concerned, however, about making an unalterable mistake with the otherwise nice paint job on the truck.

Is there anyone out there who might have some experience with the hood blackout kit who might give me an idea of what I’m getting into?

Thanks for any comments.

Paint is the way to go.

You have a few options, buy the black out kit and install it yourself.
Buy the kit and have it installed by a truck (lorry) lettering/sign shop.
Use paint for the black out.
Have a body shop paint the black out.

I dont have steady hands nor patience, I would have it done.

while I'm not an advocate of the whole plasti-dip your car thing - it might be worth trying in your situation. if you dont like it or you mess up, it peels right off.

Check out Rovers North - The Source for Classic Land Rover Parts they have a vynal kit that installs on the raised portion of the hood. I put it on about 2 years ago and it still looks great. The vynle is the way to go because it is removable. Just wax your hood before you install it. The instructions say that makes it more removable.
