I had a mechanic put a new cable in a few months back while they were looking at a center diff lock issue. a few weeks ago I took it to a diff mechanic to have them review the brakes. They were not able to get the cable to release the hood latch. I brought it home figuring I would jack around with it. When I looked up underneath up I saw that the plastic housing had holes drilled in it and the cable was feed through a hole. The plastic housing was super brittle so I just removed the various peices. It seems frozen. I see where the cable should attach and tried to put it back into place. But no cigar. Picture attached. Most of my tools are in storage about an hour away as we moved remote and have not got a shed put up yet. What tools will I need? Do I just need to get ahold of that spot where the cable connected and lever it a bit?
You should be able to move the piece the cable attaches to the ight, it just slides normally. Hit the piece just above the spring and the bit that slides a good shot of lubricant 1st it might help.
I would use a good sized screwdriver and give it a sharp blow, that should pop it

SO it goes to the right not left? OK. Because I did not get to see the cable attached correctly I was unsure.
latch release lever moves TOWARDS the cable 'u' shaped mount......
the little lever is actually part of a larger latching piece with 'c' shaped cut out. Hood pin fits in 'C' cutout to latch closed. tension Spring pulls the latching lever across the hood pin hole, so it maintains position for locking....you pull the cable to change position of hood pin latching lever thereby releasing the hood pin.....
@XRAD thanks for the correction, I went to look I was thinking of the locking piece. On a side note LR has used that hood latch system since at least 68 with very few changes
