yeah they are cheap enough lol if I like the 60 ir it makes me uncomfortable with a cantilever only on one side of hood to cause it to bend.. I may goto the 2 45s... ill be about 30 bucks away from changing it out so no biggie! if i can get away with the one then its jus that much more free space under there when laying on engine doing work lol

I have an extendable hood prop rod with a rubber crutch tip on each end,..........I can put it where ever I need it if the regular prop rod gets in the way.

I have the original one prop mod and mess with my engine compartment at least once a week. I have done many mods suggested by Alex and others but the hood prop is my favorite, and definitely the best bang for the buck.

I considered doing two but it is so nice to be able to basically hover over the engine from just about any angle I decided against it.

IMHO the OEM prop was a cost cutting measure by Land Rover. It sucks.

I agree charlie! Not to mention taking out the CDL componenets forcing us with 03s maybe some 02s to buy a new transfer case and linkage!

Oh that's the worst. The absolute worst. They did that because they had too much faith in the electronics and saw a chance for savings. British engineers can't roll their r's so they didn't understand TRES AMIGOS.

There is a cheapie way to get a CDL linkage for about twenty bucks, but not a locking CDL obviously, made from sockets and socket extensions. I think it's funny but it works. You can find it here.

Yeah I bought a whole parts Rover and got so excited to have a spare transfer case. I took it out and put it on the floor and was very disappointed to see that it didn't have the nipple. My original one does so if that fateful day arrives when I have to swap I'll also have to swap the front assembly, if the spare one hasn't been ruined by the weight of my disdain. What a pain.

So I read this thread from the comfort of my bed thinking that one strut wouldn't support the hood evenly. And two just limit access to the engine compartment. But what about mounting one or two on the firewall to the center of the hood? Not in the way there. Supports the hood evenly. Win win. In the morning I'll have to take a peek to see if that's doable

Then reality set in and you have to get a grip.

Don't think it's a practical from here.
