Hood prop no more! How to get your hood prop out of the way forever.
So the new plan is two forty pounders???
The mod, original or two forty pounders, is brilliant. But I'm fixating on the fender over the bracket. It is aluminum so I'm either going to beat it down or maybe cut it a little. Any ideas on that?

Yea, I wasn't sure about it at first. Usually I'd just cut it out, but my grandfather came and borrowed his angle grinder back and I didn't have anything to cut it. I just bolted it right back over the mount and it didn't push the fender up or out (surprisingly). I might fix it at some point just so it looks better with the hood open. Might not. Who knows? Haha

I tried to PM you and I can't get it to work on my phone. Can you send me the specs on your cold air intake? My cam arrived so the engine will be ready soon and some jackass glued the breather hose together after breaking it. I broke that and I don't want glue under my "bonnet," so close to my "propshaft" and in view of my "spanners." The replacement price makes me want to commit random/targeted acts of violence, and I like yours better anyway. I want a cone!

I understand that! I don't remember the exact dimensions, I think it was 3.25" diameter but let me check when I get back and I'll throw up some better pictures. I do remember the filter was a k&n e-1009. I'll make a seperate post though so future searchers can find it more easily.
excellent write-up, great work guys. after watching the AB video on replacing the strut for the P38, it looks like the P38 strut is much farther back towards the firewall. that appears to allow for more access / less interference from the strut. any reason we can't mount the strut closer to the firewall on a D2? do you think it would work? thoughts...

I do something on my rover several times a week and it hasn't been in the way yet. The front one is always in the way and I once bumped the hood with my head, ducked down, and I'd hit it just perfectly to cause the prop to come out so it hit me again! Wow. I get mad just thinking about it so I'll stop there.
IM IN! what a great writeup! Im going with the 60 lb version... i wonder if two 60 lb would make it hard to shut? initially figured id do 2 of them but then thought hmmm the less n my way the better! especially when its time to change coils or plugs again if I have too!
Installed mine on drivers side and doesn't touch anything. Now I am going to order 1 for passenger side. just for grins.
