Default Hood Struts

Has anyone every installed struts to open the hood and support it on a D2? The prop gets in my way sometimes when I am trying to get in to work on things, and I don't really want it falling on my head, plus having it open once released would be nice, as my hood gets very hot in summer months. I have seen struts on the Rangies I think, but was trying to figure out the install location and the weight the strut would need to handle to open nicely, support the weight, and able to close.

Any ideas or pics of what you may have done?

P38a had them I believe. I'm trying to figure out a solid way to attach them.

I've already got a couple of these for the project - http://www.roversnorth.com/ProductDe...=PLE795&type=0

AB has a couple of videos on hood strut replacement. Looks like the P38 and the LR3 has them also. The P38 has one big one and the LR3 has two smaller ones. Looks like a head scratcher as to where to/ how to mount the part that goes on the hood. Maybe a weld? Now I'm gonna have to go outside and have a look at the hood/bonnet.

yeah, it looks like you could do a weld or some rivets a few inches up the inner hood from where the hood mounts are now and do the bottom mounts in that valley where the air intake is. interesting mod- can't say I've seen it before, but also am no fan of the stock hood prop- always have to work around it.

A P-38 Has two struts that hold the hood up, the drivers side has a built in lock to keep the hood from closing accidentally.
