RE: How bad are 2003s?
I have a 2003. You guys have me worried now.
May I ask, which VIN range should I be aware of?
I have a 2003 with 23,000 miles. Truck seems OK.
Does anyone know which VIN range is the "bad ones"?
My VIN # is:
SALTY16493A794171
Should I keep what I have?

RE: How bad are 2003s?
Your Disco sounds like a real hottie with that few miles- If I were you, I'd hang on to it and just front a new engine if it happens.
On another note.... Oh, if it weren't for priorities: '04, Chawton White w/ 27k Miles
Still looking as of today.

RE: How bad are 2003s?
Riggs- A brand new crate motor for your 03 is going to be around $10,000 installed. You would save some money finding a motor out of a wrecked 04. They are out there but not very plentiful.
Pat - That white one looks nice but at $22K it's way over priced. Even for a 2004 that's too much. $16K sounds a little closer to the right price range but you can offer anything you want. The worst they can say is no. If they really want to sell the vehicle they'll make a counter offer. It's called negotiating. LOL.
