Default How do I get these mud flaps off? Seriously..

The other day I was backing up, got into a snowbank and ripped one of my rear mud flaps off. Now my plan is to cut the other rear flap off and bolt them both back in so they hang the same height but the nuts and bolts are round, no hex to bite on. I can turn the nutwith a vise grip but it just spins, doesn't thread off.So are these not meant to be removed? Is this LR's way of making me buynotjust a new flap but the whole unit it's attached to? Thanks!

Back into a snow bank and rip the other one off

All joking aside, I want to know also because I want to take mine off and throw them in the trash.

I was thinking of doing this a few weeks ago. Looks like you need to just drill out the 2 rivots where the metal plates clasp the rubber mud flap, and remove the two screws on the side. If you want to keep the flaps buy nuts and bolts to go back in. My friend convinced me to keep them (for now) so rocks won't hit people following behind me. Since I don't live in snow how likely arre these to be ripped off when wheeling? BTW, these are just the rear flaps that I'm talking about the fronts came off with the running boards.

you could just cut the rubber mud flap very close to the top/where it's connected to the truck.

that way, you wouldn't have empty holes... and it would be easy

Drilling them out and replacing with new bolts. Ya see, that's why I asked because in my frustration and dumbfoundednessI didn't even take that into consideration. Simple yet effective. Thanks for the replies guys.

Arent the bolts going through the flaps carriage bolts? can't you just use vice grips on the aft-most bolt? I haven't messed with mine, but have heard on a D2 drilling was the only way out. I have looked at mine and thought they could be taken off like that...

Either way, drilling should work
