There is no easy way, there is big plastic anti theft cover protecting the release cable. It is hard to get at it I had to use a cordless drill and very long wood bit to drill a couple of holes in the cover to finally get to a point where I could shove the latch. Took me a couple hours, but I was avoiding doing any additional damage

Maybe we should be preemptively be cutting or drilling the anti theft plastic so it’s no big deal when the time comes.
The hood cable on my P38 broke a couple of years back, but it wasn’t terribly difficult to release the 2 latches.

On a 94-02 D1/D2 remove the drivers side headlight and the hood release cable is right behind it. You can then cut the cable, peed back the outer bit, and simply pull on the cable with a pair of locking plyers. 03-04 D2 is a bit more tricky due to the 1 piece headlight and the light itself being bolted in.

@Best4x4 Yea my cable broke at the latch it was no fun to get the hood open, You can actually grab the cable through grill on an 03/04 with a piece of coat hanger then twist it a few times which should pop it. Unless your break is like mine.

That sucks lucky the ones I've dealt with all died on the handle side! One was in the middle which was odd, but yeah at the latch itself is an entirely different ball game for sure.
