I'm not usually a fan of throwing parts at a problem before absolute verification but in this case, if you haven't changed both your idle pulleys and have decent amount of miles on your truck you may as well do that.

I had a "noise" from my engine a while back and didn't think much of it then one day on the way to work I lost all my accessories. Pulled over and found the serpentine belt could have been better used as confetti and the passenger side idler pulley had pretty much vaporized.

 

Ok so I put a screwdriver to the alternator and the condenser pump. The alternator definitely sounds louder than the compressor but I wasn't able to hear a discernible grinding noise. While my ears were there, it almost sounded like my tensioner (which I changed a few years ago). I think I'll replace the alternator and tensionner because I'm almost certain the alt is the original one and since the belt is off I might as well do that and the idler as well.
