Default How many ABS sensors LR2 discovery2002 has?

How many ABS sensors does the LR2 discovery 2002 has.?
how often do they go bad?

I got the three lights on, the 3 amigos, HDC, TC,and ABS.
The mechaniccheckedit and renthe diagnostic. His result was, the2 front ABS sensorsneed to be replacedand that the right axle is missinga teeth, because the theright ABS sensor sits on top of it, itis triggering these thre lights. He said that the axle also needs to be replaced too. I am not sure if that is the case I am worry becuse he is charging over 1,500. dollars including labor to fix it.Any suggestion? please!!!!

Your mechanic is so full of CRAP, I can't believe he could dream up such a story.
How many miles on your truck? If you break hard, can you still feel the ABS pulsation thru the brake pedal?
By the way, you have one sensor on each wheel.
Don't do anything till we talk some more.

New axles for ABS fault..............[:-]I like that one!!!............lol. Youcan actually test the ABS sensors yourself, its unlikely 2 sensors are bringing on the lights, more than likely 1 duff sensor, but it could even be the wiring to one of them, a dirty sensor etc or worn hub,or a sensor is "loose" in its mounting.

To test the sensors in a "primitive way", simple disconnect each one in turn, and measure the resistance across them, 3 will be almost the same, and the faulty one (which i supect is your problem) will give a very different reading, ie to high or low resistance. This is basically all the Diagnostic machine and the SLABS ECUdoes to test them.

The actual resistance of the sensors should be 950-1100 ohms, anything outside that value either higher or lower will fail the SLABS ECU test and illuminate all 3 amigo's

Now the trick will be to get the mechanic to clear the codes. He may not want to do that, makes him look bad when they come on again.

Thanks Mike,
they tried to clear the code, but It comes back again, so I guess I will check the sensors to see it they need to be clean or to measure the resistance to find out which one is making these lights to come on right?

what do you think?
