I'm in the middle of replacing a faulty oil pump and am trashing the garbage pozidriv screws for the oil pump gear cover. I'm replacing the screws with a hex head screw (M6 - 1.00 x 12). Unfortunately, the hardware store I'm currently standing in only has 7.
I did not count how many are needed before coming here. How many screws are needed?

 

There are 7 of them plus the longer hex cap screw + washer

Are you sure they're 12mm? The total length including head is 12mm, but the thread length is 8mm. I thought fasteners were always specced excluding the head.

edit: dammit you're right. I opened the CAD drawing and these are 8mm length overall. Gotta love buying 7 cent screws and paying $9 shipping....

Now if I could just find the torque specification for them. I can't seem to find it in the RAVE. Anybody?

 

Short screws x 7 = 3 lbs/ft
Longer bolt x 1 = 6 lbs/ft

Add Loctite 222
