Default How much ATF do I need for a fluid/filter change

Guys-
When changing my 04 D2 transmission fluid and filter (every 30k miles) how much ATF do I need to get the job done? Seems like last time I bought more than my shop used.
Thank you.

More than a gallon. When I did my transmission maintenance I got three one gallon jugs, because I did a flush (replace fluid only, drive around block, drain, then replace filter). I also added a bottle of Lucas for final refill.

When I watched the Atlantic British video How-To he put 7 quarts back in, ran it through the gears and then topped it off with the 8th quart but didn't use it all.

The AB video is really helpful not that I'll be doing that job myself as I don't have a lift. If I supply 2 gallons of ATF then that should more than work. Thank you for the insights!

With a fluid/filter change it's 6-7qt usually.

You don't need a lift to change the transmission fluid. Pretty simple job, and most places aren't going to know the correct fill procedure for the Disco box.

Any recommendations on the brand of ATF? I've used Redline in the past.

I use the Valvoline MaxLife in the red bottle.
