Default How to Power Tune Rover V8 Engines

This is a great read. It explains the reasons for the slipped liners and a whole lot of other goodies. Enjoy!

Nice find. Page 29 is very interesting with the failure rates of the different blocks. I wonder where that data was gather from. I have heard folks on here mention the 4.0 block is more reliable than the 4.6.

The last paragraph on page 29 points out the virtue of a cooler thermostat, keeping coolant at 167 - 176F.

Really interesting stuff. Now I want to make sure I have a 'red' block. When I bought mine it had a rebuilt engine which the PO paid almost $6k for rebuild at a local rover only shop. On the receipt it basically said, 'replaced liner and fixed cracked block' or something to that nature. I called the shop that did it, and the guy said it must have been a typing error because they don't reuse cracked blocks. Now, I wonder if they just installed a flanged liner on that one cylinder (#8).

Hi Ralphobell
I am in the process of rebuilding my 4.6 for my ES Discovery1 and have Des's book in new condition, if you are interested in this book for your rebuild (which was why I spent 6 months looking for it!) I would be happy to let it go.

I would be interested, I guess it would depend on the price.

Oops. Never mind. It's "out of stock" and not available for electronic delivery. I submitted a request for notification when it becomes available, maybe if they get enough requests the publisher will do a 2nd run.

Surprised there's not a fellow enthusiast with a downloadable copy lurking out there someplace... If only I could get my hands on one, I'm sure something could be figured out!

Here's a listing of public libraries that are supposed to have it. Who wants to check it out and see if it can be made more widely available?
