how to remove original radio
any tricks to this? haven't dug in yet. have seen special tools purported to make this easier... my uninformed guess is just to insert a small metal object into the 2 slots on the top of the face and give it a go.
help from anyone who has done this? thanks.

You need special tools. You can get them (possibly rent) from stereo install places or just pay them a couple of bucks to take it out. You stick in the flat metal objects (I am sure they have a name) and they simply depress a tab which allows you to remove the radio. I took mine to Bestbuy and paid the guy $10 bucks to take it out. Good luck.
Um if you have the same as mine which is in a 97 Disco (Pioneer Im thinking with a 6-disc) then you dont need that flat metal tool these other guys are talking about. It says to use a special 5 sides tool and I went and found a picture of it online, it looks exactly like an allen wrench and I had a speciality tool that looked just like it, stuck it in the two holes on either side and it fit perfectly.
yeah mine is pioneer too. I think its like a 5/64" allen wrench I used. I'm trying to replace mine as we speak I can't get my new one to power on. Its nothing fancy just a pioneer cd player from wal-mart. Does anyone have any suggestions on this? Everything is wired correctly, a fuse maybe I've checked all the relevant fuses I know of, also my clock has been acting weird(on/off at different times) Please help
