Default How would you tackle paint over lettering on Disco 2?

Do anyone have suggestions on on you would tackle getting off paint off the “Discovery” lettering on rear door and “Land Rover” on hood that someone painted over?

also overspray paint on driver door handle. Appears enamel.

It is supposed to be 2001 Disco 2 “Oslo Blue” but someone did a very shotty brighter blue. I intend to have it repainted, but it might be a year from now. Thank you in advance.

Somewhat tangentially related, but I'm trying to confirm that the 2004 D2 does have lettering on the rear door. Mine doesn't have anything at all. My 1999 and 2003 both did, and the photo above shows that the 2001 does as well.

1999 to 2003 have the thinner hood decal:

2004 uses the thicker version:

Since you are not planning a repaint until a year later.... but still want the letter decals to look nicer... perhaps plastidip the decal (with masking tape around the letters)?

Yes, 2004 had the revised lettering (raised plastic like the new L322 Range Rover at the time) - front side model designation if SE/SE7 or HSE/7 and rear.

But just the Discovery badge, no "series II" on the rear.

I now just realized the years on thickness. Thank you.

How would one get them off (old) Heat gun?

Heat gun and dental floss may work. Apply heat first .... then use a thin sharp exacto knife to separate the paint along the outline of each letter first.... this is to ensure you do not accidentally peel the surrounding paint around the letters... then try slipping the dental floss under the letter... and gently peel off.

Wow that looks like a pretty bad paint job man, sorry to say. (the rear bumper - good god).

I don't know if I would remove those letters. I think they're going to pull paint up and make a big mess of it.

Yes! Some prior owner took it upon themselves to do a garage spray on it unfortunately.
