How would you tackle paint over lettering on Disco 2?

I would vinyl wrap the letters. It should be easy to cut around the edges. You can try as often without damaging anything.

So have someone find the right letter style, size and spacing then vinyl wrap over each letter?

Since you are not planning a repaint until a year later.... but still want the letter decals to look nicer... perhaps plastidip the decal (with masking tape around the letters)?
does anyone know if these are made of plastic, rubber, or metal on OEM on vehicle?

I meant, keep the over painted letters and wrap them. Find a nice texture that makes them look more distinguishable.

This is the plastidip that I previously mentioned. You can get them at most hardware stores or Amazon.
