Huge oil leak
Oil light came on, was out driving on some gravel, bumpy roads. Went straight home, not far, and my dipstick was empty. Put in an entire bottle of 15w40 and ran it, and saw this spray:

Can anyone identify where that might be spewing out from? Glad that I can at least see it... I did a big job a couple weeks ago of changing out my timing chain, front cover gasket, front oil seal and oil pump, but just a few days ago my oil level was still showing just under the full line on the dipstick, and not really losing any. So what gives?

Wow! That's shocking.
It is hard to see but your oil sender may have just blown out. It screws in at that general area on the front cover. But, it would probably hit something; that stream was so shocking and strong it could be a portion of your front cover gasket.
Wow!
Replacing the oil sender is not a huge thing. You should pull your upper fan shroud and fan, and you will be able to see if it is coming from the sender.
If it is the oil sender I would not run the engine much, or at all. That oil should be going to bearings. They will ruin quickly if they don't get any oil.

Yes, I did get virus alert on my phone, but I was stubborn enough to look at video anyway's,,
Leak was pretty crazy, with that much spraying around,, should be easy to pinpoint,,

No. On phone.
Crazy leak.
I would take your work to bits again. Wouldn't run it, even with full level. Pressure will be low somewhere. Scary.

Sorry about the link guys, I didn't get a virus alert on my iPhone. Here's a YouTube link to the leak, more in focus and from starting the engine to leak start, within two seconds.
I'm thinking this is the front cover gasket. The oil pressure switch looks good, nothing coming out there. And my front cover gasket wasn't looking so hot when I put the front cover back on, during all my work on it, it got a little mangled. So this might the result of that...

It actually concerns me more that I didn't get a virus warning than if I had.
On the front cover, that is a really extreme leak. I saw that you didn't find a leak at the oil sender, so I'm sorry if I put you to trouble there. With regard to the gasket, I stopped using the paper ones years ago. If you use a good rtv you will get a great seal. I smear it on the block mating surface, then the front cover, let it dry a few minutes, then put them lightly together, wait a few minutes more, then torque it down. A bead of rtv really doesn't work for me. I just lay the bead then smear it with my finger.

Charlie, no, thank you for the idea about the oil sender. It made perfect sense, and that seems to be a common cause of big leaks.
Good idea about the RTV. I used some RTV on top of the gasket when I put it on, but I literally took the front cover off and on about fifteen times, trying to get that oil pump to slide on to the crank, and probably lost my RTV application, besides the front gasket falling to pieces from sticking and resticking so many times.
So you leave the front cover gasket off entirely and just use RTV?? I've been using Hylomar Blue Universal, just ordered another tube. Seems to be working really well on everything else.
