Default Hydroplaning

Can anyone recommend an all purpose tire that channels water well? Hydroplaning all over the damn freeway lately with all the heavy rain and lack of good watershed angling on the freeways here. (Oklahoma City)

I'm currently running the Falken Wildpeak AT in the stock 16" size. They've handled soaked roadways quite well. Same with Michelin LTX M/S2 used by my dad's Tacoma.

I had a set of Capitol Precision Trac IIs before I went to a larger set of tires. Relatively cheap and honestly some of the best tires I've ever seen. I drove 60-65 in some of the heaviest rain I've ever seen and never hydroplaned a lick. They also pulled me through 8-10" of snow without issue and through muddy gravel up the side of a mountain with minimal issue. Pretty decent tread life, too. mine had 20k on them and we're barely starting to show wear.

I'm happy with my Hankook Dynapro's. I haven't hydroplaned in them yet and they are aggressive enough to be good off road and in snow. Good price too. I got them at Treadquarters where it said they are the standard tire on the F-150 now.

Ditto on the Michelins... Hydroplaning in the PNW not an issue and darn good on snow as well.

General Grabber AT2's or Continental 4X4 Contacts work really well.

Continentals on my other car were not much good after the first year on the car. Just put some Coopers on my D1 and they seem good in the rain, snow is on it's way so we will see soon enough I guess.

Which continentals were they? the Contipro and the Sport5\s hydroplane like crazy but they are more sport tires. I have been running the 4x4 contacts for 2 years, oin my 19's and they work really well.

When the snow comes, i switch over to my 16's with the General Grabbers. never any problems. Solid tire. Wish they made it in 19's
