i have a 96 disco2 runs great just is ugly color and interior is way jacked up also. now i found a killer deal on a 99. way nice good color. but it has a bad engine. can i do a swap. land rover is new to me im a chevy guy. and have done tons of swaps, but land rover is new to me owned them for years just havent done tons of work same stuff. so can i swap a 96 into a 99. if so any trick things i need to know computer? just what is the swap about easy or not. any info is great thanks

 

It is not going to be a smooth swap. The Disco I is mostly Lucas, uses a different computer and has a gems fuel injection system. The Disco II is mostly Bosch throughout the truck. In the end it will probably not be cost effective, especially when you consider that a used Disco can be bought rather cheap.

 

I just noticed that you said that you have a 96 Disco II. There were no Disco II's made in 96. The Disco I was made from 1994-1999 and the Disco II from 1999-2004. Your 96 is definitely a Disco I but I am not sure about your 99 because they were both made that year. You are going to have to check that out.

 

96 is a disco 1 as said before, the engine is not going to sit well in a disco 2. If the 99 is a disco 1 then no problem, they are the same engine, but not for a 99 disco 2.

 

Does the truck with the bad engine have a digital heater control or rotary *****?
