I love my LR3, but should I buy a clean low mile Disco II?

Default You mean not smooth or practical like a D3 (LR3)...

If I’m completely honest, just have one of each.

I have the rover bug - I'll be asking about a Classic soon enough (Faves 05-09 sport & LR platform, RRC, and D2) dunno much bout D1

Keep your LR3 and get a D2.

If you like the size of the LR3, smooth ride and the quiet interior you are not going to like the D2 much after you get over the styling. I love the way the D2 looks inside and out but I'm 6'3" and the D2 is cramped compared to the LR3. However the D2 is great on the trails being smaller and with the solid axels and coils.
Ah. Old and Rickety inside? I'm short and female as far as cramped goes (but then again sometimes the LR3 feels cramped). Yes - I will be using my D2 for Mountain Dirt, backroads, trails, gravel, mud, snow...

Default I think that the (consensis) message Is BOTH

If you’re into upgrades, I think there is more aftermarket stuff available for the D1/2s. I guess you need to ask yourself what you’re looking for. If your D3 is a keeper, keep it. Like someone suggested, consider buying a D2 as well - they can be had very reasonable.
Both then.

Pending funds, I'd keep the LR3 and go with a range rover classic. Different set of headaches than a D2 but another timeless look that really is even more different than the discos. Plus talk about value increasing....also easier to swap motors away from a rover v8 if you so desired as there are less electronics to deal with.

classic would have to be somewhat of a project- nice ones are $$$, but everyone needs a no electronics rover (doh! That would be the old Defender!). I'm keeping the LR3. I've caught the bug ~ but also for practicality (want another one -- eventually two, three... eek) because I own remote mountain property --- mud and snow (great excuse). Classic and Defender (defender being the expensive hurdle, well ~ nice classics...wow those prices.)
