Default I need some help.

Hi,
Im new to these forums and to Land rovers.
I need advice on which rover to buy.
I'm looking at the 1999-2001 discovery 2

I was wondering if this discovery looks good for the price?

Thanks.

Looks great!

My 2000 Rover cost me about 6K with 128,000 miles (all highway). At that price I would jump on it (figuratively).

The 1999 model has the CDL nipple so you can fabricate a diff lock handle for more off road potential.

Cheers,

Pete

Well they dont show much of the interior. Have you driven it yet? Dont buy the first one that you see/drive.
I would offer them $4500 and then negotiate from there.Because these truck REQUIRE premium gas you can use that to your advantage because these are a dime a dozen right now.
Aguy just bought a '03 for $6,000 a couple of weeks ago. Not to say that you will find one that cheap but just to give you a idea of how bad they want to sell these trucks right now.
www.nada.com, www.kbb.com and www.edmunds.com are all great research tools.

I thought about buying a Prius at one point (don't judge me!). The price difference between my Rover and the eco-box meant I would need to drive it for about 5 years (8000 miles a year) to break even. Plus Rovers are awesome. Prius's (Prii?) are not.

Cheers,

Pete

Tough to say. It really depends on what decides to break. Definitely replace the front driveshaft before it explodes and takes out your transmission. I replaced mine in a couple of hours. Tom Woods charges about $375.00 for a new one. New transmission is about 5-6K.

New Magnecor 8mm wires and Champion 7318 plugs. New oil and filter (I plan to switch to 0w40 Mobil 1 and a Mobil filter). Drain axles and T-case, replace fluid with 75w90 Mobil 1. Transmission drain and fill with dexron/mercon Valvoline Maxlife (or any other brand of choice).

Cheers,

Pete

$1500 to bring it up to par. Roughly of course.

Prii, Yarii, who knows what the plural is.
