Default Cleaning Stepper (IAC) motor

Just like the title says I am looking for some tips on cleaning the IAC stepper motor on my 2000 Disco II. The idle has become more rough (especially after all the mud I drove through last time out). No codes being thrown. I just noticed the idle whenever the Rover is stopped. Engine pulls fine at speed and runs well. I am not losing coolant and have replaced the wires and plugs (Magnecor and Champion).

Can I just remove the IAC from the top of the motor and spray some carb cleaner into the hole?

Cheers,

Pete

Yes, yes you can. Clean the plunger too.

Roger.

I assume the plunger is part of the IAC unit?

Also, does this rough idle sound like the stepper motor? Everything else is a-okay.

Cheers,

Pete

Yes the plunger is part of the IAC.
No that doesnt sound like the culprit to me but then I know nothing.
I would clean it and then see what happens, it very well might be it.
It could be bad gas too.

I have bad gas, but it's not from the brand of petrol I'm buying.[:@]

I'll try it tomorrow and post the results. Can I unplug the IAC to clean it or should I leave it plugged in?

Cheers,

Pete

You cannot eat burritos from Joes Taco Stand and Autorepair.

I would unplug it. If it is really dirty take a toothbrush to it.
