Default I screwed up- Brake Fluid

So I flushed my brake system shortly after buying my Disco, as described but I made what may be a fatal error, I used Synthetic DOT 3 fluid. I didn't read closely and just looked for synthetic, bought it and went from there. Well 6 months later and I have a leak from my master cylinder. My question now, what did I screw up? Can I just buy the reseal kit for my master cylinder and flush the system again, do I need to replace the master cylinder, have I damaged calipers and/or lines? I royally screwed the pooch on this one.

Who's synthetic fluid did you use, was it a DOT 3/DOT compatiable, if so, you are OK.

Because you used DOT3 instead of 4? They're totally compatible. The only difference is DOT4 has higher boiling points. Since your fluid is new and dry, the DOT3 you have in there is better than old, wet DOT4.

It was Prestone Synthetic DOT 3 fluid. So I should investigate other causes for my master cylinder leak?

This is the fluid I used.

I use that exact same fluid, its not the fluid that caused your leak.

That being said, when you repair your leak, do a full 2 quart DOT 4 flush so your brake fluid will last longer from not overheating.
