got ya. they may have one at the auto hobby shop on base.

SO YEAH - started the truck cold after clearing codes. Idled real high like 1500 -1600 for a moment then drove till the CEL came on pulled codes 0300, 0308 again. None of the bogging down and feeling like the truck wanted to stall on me. once the truck was warm i cleared the codes and kept driving... they did not come back. and the truck was idling normally again about 700, still no more bogging down(it seams to be intermittent) the codes never came back while it was warm. even shut down and restarted.

Default agreed

they seem to come back when the engine is cold and going through the warm up phase. once warm no more misfires. its seems to be specific to cold through warm

First change your spark plugs, go back to plain old copper plugs.

Then if it continues replace your VSS (vehicle speed sensor), when it fails it cuts spark to the engine.
The VSS is the speed limiter for the truck, if it thinks you are going to fast it kills spark one cylinder at a time to slow you down.

But I think the spark plugs are the problem.
Some engines just do not like some plugs.

spike the plugs didnt get changed till after this started. but i will give it a shot.....also when i changed the plugs today the driver side plugs were the proper grey ashy color. the passenger side were varying degrees of black and sooty.

Default misfires are only during warm up

so my idle is inconsistent sometimes its high sometimes its normal. go figure. But more importantly my misfire problem on cylinder 8 is only occurring while the truck is going through the warm up process. once it is warm it goes away .... any ideas

That soounds like a bad/loose plug wire.
Or maybe a bad coil.
